Jobs go online at XLRI

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, JAN. 31. Replacing the traditional paper placement programme with technology, top B-School Xavier's Labour Research Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, has gone online with its annual campus placement programme.

To be used for posting the curriculum vitae (CV) of students, the new system will as of now co-exist with the old format, whereby major international and national companies come down to the campus for pre-placement talks. Having started accepting admission applications online nearly three years ago and going online with its alumni management system in 2002, the B-School sees this is as yet another step towards using technology for process improvement.

With the new system, students can apply to companies online, and view their status in the recruitment process. Apart from being able to avoid repetitive filling up of application forms, students will get information about participating companies along with links to the website of the companies.

From the company side, it will be easier to view student profiles, job applications as well as allow them to schedule their campus visits as per the placement activities.

"We are very happy that XLRI has selected our Online Campus Placement System after a very thorough evaluation. This reconfirms their belief in our web solution for Student Relationship Management. We re-affirm our commitment to XLRI and the Indian business school community to provide online solutions to process improvement," says Sankaran P. Raghunathan, Chairman, Blueshift India Private Limited.

The Institute points out that going online will speed up the placement process.

As Aneesh Banerjee, Secretary of the Placement Committee, pointed out, "This system would help specific departments of companies to see the résumés of students simultaneously, choose students from résumés efficiently and communicate with students far more effectively. XLRI has realised that the future of recruitment lies in efficiency of the process and IT would definitely help us in that.''

Working on a matrix structure, the placement committee will use the current system for this year.
