Bharathi Iyakkam's silver jubilee

THANJAVUR, JAN. 31 . The silver jubilee of Thiruvaiyaru Bharathi Iyakkam will be held for three days from February 27 at Thiruvaiyaru, according to V. S. Ramalingam, president of the Iyakkam.

He told presspersons here today that the Iyakkam, started in 1978, was striving hard to spread the message of Mahakavi Bharathi to the younger generation, particularly students.

The silver jubilee conference will be inaugurated by Lakshminarayanan, Minister for Education, Pondichery. The main objective of the conference would be to unite all Bharathi associations functioning throughout the country under one roof. It has also been decided to erect a bronze statue of Bharathi at Thiruvaiyaru, release books of Bharathi, and promote art and culture among students and youth.
