Jayabal, councillor, objected to the way a private hotel was sealed by the municipal health officer for want of hygiene. He wanted to know whether prior notice was given to the hotel owner. He objected to throwing all food items and essential commodities outside the hotel before sealing it.

Mr. Sultan said he did not know on what ground the action had been taken and asked whether the Municipal Health Officer had informed the Municipal Commissioner, Mannar.

The Health Officer said he had taken action, on a suggestion made by the Collector, S. Kosalaraman. He had got permission from the Municipal Commissioner.

The Chairman said the Collector should not be dragged into the controversy.

The Commissioner said he had given permission to the Health Officer to take action against the hotel as it was found wanting in hygiene. Now the hotel has been permitted to set right the deficiencies.
