Indian Airlines launches cargo website

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 31. Indian Airlines has launched a website that would provide information to shippers on domestic cargo rates and location of nearest cargo agents.

Launching the website on Friday, the Deputy Managing Director, T.S. Chandrasekar, said that a fleet of 57 aircraft was capable of carrying 1,000 tonnes of cargo daily. The cargo operations would be fully computerised in the next one year.

While clarifying that air cargo rates were expensive, he said special competitive rates were available for bulk quantities of commodities such as magazines, electronic goods, fruits, auto parts, vaccines, garments and seafood.
