PONDICHERRY, JAN. 31. The Development Commissioner cum Secretary to the Finance department in Pondicherry, B. Vijayan, is being relieved from the Pondicherry Administration with effect from February 10 to enable him to take up new assignment in the Union Commerce Ministry on deputation as Development Commissioner in the Madras Special Economic Zone, Chennai. An official communication said today that as per the orders of the Lt Governor, the Chief Secretary, R. Padmanabhan will hold additional charge of the subjects of Finance, Planning and Research, Economics and Statistics, Accounts and Treasuries, Agriculture and Information Technology until further orders. In a bureaucratic reshuffle the Lt Governor also issued orders appointing Secretary to Industries and Commerce Chetan B.Sanghvi Secretary to Lt Governor, relieving M. Sathiavathy of this charge. Mr.Sanghvi would in addition to charges already held by him will hold additional charge of the Departments of Cooperation and Stationery to Printing, relieving B.Vijayan of these charges. Sathiavathy, Secretary to Education will hold additional charge of the PWD. Mr..Sanghvi is also appointed Chief Electoral Officer here pursuant to an Election Commission notification.
