DMK-Congress alliance an opportunism: AIADMK

By Our Staff Reporter

PONDICHERRY, JAN. 31 . The AIADMK has described the efforts by the DMK and the Congress to establish an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls as `opportunism and improper strategy to hoodwink the electorate.'

A resolution adopted at a meeting of the Pondicherry State Committee here on Friday under the chairmanship of the party Secretary, A. Anbalagan also appealed to voters to teach a lasting lesson to the DMK and its president, M. Karunanidhi, who `has been playing a political drama taking the people for granted.'

The meeting expressed concern over `disruption of routine administrative works in the government departments by the struggle by the ruling Congress to assert its status and to preserve its stability in the government in the backdrop of the emerging alliance.'

The AIADMK would establish booth-wise committees in Pondicherry to carry out the poll strategies.

The meeting said K. Lakshminarayanan and A. Elumalai had quit the Rangasamy Government only because of `internal dissensions in the Ministry.' Thus the government lacked stability to remain in office. The Territorial Assembly should be dissolved and elections should be held to the Assembly along with the Lok Sabha poll, it said.
