Teenaged girl `kidnapped'

BANGALORE, JAN. 31. A 19-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped from near her house in Tilakanagar police station limits on Saturday by some persons who came in a van.

However, police suspect that the girl has "eloped" with her boyfriend.

Mohammed Nizam of Jayanagar `T' Block, an executive engineer at BESCOM, lodged a complaint saying that his daughter, Asma, was kidnapped from near his house around 7.30 a.m., police said.

Asma, a sixth semester student in a local engineering college, was on her way to the college when she was reportedly taken away in the van. However, police suspect that Asma has "eloped" with Shabbir. Tilakanagar police have registered a case of kidnapping and are searching for Asma.

Boy killed in accident: A 10-year-old boy was killed when a lorry hit him on 7th Main, Koramangala, on Friday. He has been identified as Iman Samshi of 4th Block, Koramangala. Adugodi traffic police have seized the lorry and are on the lookout for its driver.

Another accident victim: A man aged around 35 years, who was injured in a road accident on Banaswadi Ring Road, off BMTC Depot, on Thursday, died in Victoria Hospital on Friday. He has not been identified. Police have arrested the driver of the van which hit him.

Fraser Town Traffic police have registered a case.

Two cases of suicide: Mamatha (38), a mother of two children, reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house near Hegganahalli Cross in Sunkadakatte.

Kamakshipalya police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Sagainathan (32), a car driver, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Neelasandra on Friday night. Ashoknagar police have registered a case.

Pirated VCDs seized: Officials of the City Crime Branch (CCB) raided a shop in 5th Block, Rajajinagar, on Thursday, and reportedly seized 250 pirated VCDs of pornographic films. Shivakumar (34) and Sridhar (27) have been in this connection.

Live-band joint raided: Officials of the CCB raided a live-band joint on Residency Road and arrested five people on the charge of serving liquor to customers in violation of the Karnataka Excise Rules.

Those who have been arrested are employees of the joint. The proprietors are reportedly absconding, according to police.
