CHENNAI, FEB. 1. The Communist Party of India (CPI) will contest the Coimbatore and Tenkasi (reserved) seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The party State secretary, R. Nallakannu, and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president, M. Karunanidhi, signed an agreement here today. The DMK heads the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the State. After signing the agreement, Mr. Karunanidhi announced that seat sharing was complete with all parties barring the Congress. Talks with the Congress on three seats were yet to be completed. Mr. Karunanidhi said that an announcement on the number of seats and the constituencies the DMK would contest would be made in a couple of days.
