Auto driver beaten up; vehicle stolen

Three unidentified persons, who boarded an autorickshaw at Afzalgunj posing as passengers, took away the vehicle after beating up and overpowering the driver, Bhaskar, at an isolated place in Santoshnagar on Saturday night. Initially two persons got into the vehicle saying they wanted to go to Santoshnagar. Another person, suspected to be member of the gang, boarded the vehicle near Santoshnagar. Later, they attacked the driver when the vehicle reached a secluded place and fled from the spot with the vehicle, the Santoshnagar police said.

Bar raided; six held

The Mahankali police raided Opel Bar and Restaurant on Saturday night and arrested six persons, including its manager, Mohd. Imran. Four female singers and a person were arrested. The police charged the bar management with violating the licence regulations.

Realtor files complaint

A realtor, Janardhan, on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Narayanaguda police stating that an amount of Rs. 45,000 was stolen from the almirah of his office located in Amber Residency Apartments. The needle of suspicion pointed towards the office receptionist, Shirisha Reddy, who was not to be seen after the cash was allegedly stolen, the police said.

Petty vendor electrocuted

A petty vendor, Anjamma (55), was electrocuted on Sunday when she accidentally came in contact with the iron grill of a dargah where she went to offer prayers as per her daily routine near Exhibition Grounds. Examination revealed that some electricity wires fell on the iron grill due to which the woman was electrocuted, the Begum Bazar police said.

The victim lives in the nearby Malakunta slum.
