HYDERABAD,
FEB. 1.
A former senior accountant of the Ranga Reddy district sub-treasury office, Sunderlal, was sentenced to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 1,000 as fine as he was found guilty in a corruption case.
Mr. Sunderlal was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on July 30, 1994, on the charge of accepting Rs. 1,000 bribe from an employee of Chevella Munsif Magistrate court to return his service book, according to a press release.
In another case, a former clerk of Osmania General Hospital, Subhash Giriji, was sentenced to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 200 as fine as corruption charges against him were proved.
Sleuths of the ACB had trapped Mr. Subhas on June 15, 1992, when he allegedly received Rs. 100 from a complainant. The clerk demanded bribe when the complainant requested him to rectify the name of his deceased son, which was mis-spelt in the hospital records.
