FIR against CBI team probing Dubey murder
By Our Staff Correspondent
PATNA,
FEB. 2.
The Gaya police today filed a First Information Report against the Central Bureau of Investigation team probing the death of the National Highways Authority of India engineer, Satyendra Dubey, following the death of two suspects who allegedly committed suicide after an interrogation session by the team.
In a complaint, the family members of Mukendra Paswan and Shivnath Sao charged the CBI with "torture and use of third degree methods" forcing them to take the extreme step at Katari village on Sunday, after they were dropped there by the CBI.
The two neighbours, police said, consumed pesticides and the efforts of doctors at the Magadh Medical College Hospital, Gaya, to revive them were in vain. A medical board has been constituted to conduct the autopsy. The CBI refused to comment.
Significantly, Pradeep Kumar, a rickshaw-puller and a key witness in the Dubey murder case, is missing.
Dubey was murdered in Gaya in November last soon after his letter to the Prime Minister's Office about the corruption in the construction of the Golden Quadrilateral road was leaked. The State Government handed over the case to the CBI on the ground that Central agencies were involved and that it was beyond the State police to handle the case.
