MANAMA, FEB. 2. The number of Indians killed in Sunday's stampede during the Haj in the Saudi Arabian city of Mina has gone up to thirteen. The Indian Consul-General, Syed Akbaruddin, who is now in Mina, told The Hindu that 13 Indians, including four women, had been killed. While the authorities in Saudi Arabia released a list of 11 Indians, the Indian consulate has confirmed that two more Indians have been killed. The bodies of the victims will be buried in the holy city of Mecca. The identity of some of the Indians was initially established after relatives identified them through photographs of the bodies. Among those killed, eight had come through the Central Haj Committee, three were based in Saudi Arabia while two had been brought in by private operators.
