Conditional nod for B.Ed course

KOTTAYAM, FEB. 2. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has decided to accord conditional approval for the continuation of the 2003-04 batch of B.Ed course offered by the Mahatma Gandhi University B.Ed centres, informed sources said. The decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the Southern Regional Council (SRC) of the NCTE held on January 30.

According to University sources, the decision of the NCTE would now have to be produced for the consideration of the Kerala High Court in the case relating to the B.Ed courses.

The B.Ed classes at the university centres had remained suspended following the judgment of the High Court on the OP No. 15971.

The more than 2,000 students who had secured admission to the B.Ed courses for the 2003-04 batches had been on a strike on account of the suspension of their course. The court had found that the University centres were not following the NCTE norms while offering the B.Ed course.
