Youth killed in road accident A youth, Naveed Khan (22), was killed and his friend, Mirza Abdul Khader, sustained serious injuries when the motorbike they were travelling on hit an electric pole and a road divider near Begum Bazar police station late on Monday night. Both were residents of Hussainialam. They were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital where doctors declared Naveed brought dead and referred Abdul to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences. The duo was coming from Afzalgunj to Begum Bazar.
Labourer killed
A labourer, Venkat of Isamia Bazar, who sustained serious injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by another labourer of the same locality, Venkataiah alias Khal Nayak, on January 30, died on Monday at Osmania General Hospital while undergoing treatment. The Kachiguda police have registered a murder case and are looking out for Venkataiah.
Businessman robbed
Three unidentified persons, posing as passengers, robbed a businessman, Mohd. Siddique, of Rs. 81,000 at Dilsukhnagar on Monday morning. A native of Nalgonda, Siddique settled in Mumbai and arrived in city this morning to catch a bus to Nalgonda, the Malakpet police said. At Mahatma Gandhi bus-station, he was told that a large number of private buses would be available at Dilsukhnagar to reach Nalgonda. He boarded a three-wheeler to go to Dilsukhnagar. Three passengers were already inside it. When the vehicle reached an isolated place, the trio suddenly pounced on him, took Rs. 2,000 from his shirt pocket and the remaining from the bag and fled.
Chain snatcher held
The Gandhinagar police on Monday caught a person, Suresh (25) of Bolakpur, who was allegedly fleeing after snatching a chain from a woman near Viceroy hotel. The accused confessed to have snatched chains twice in Gandhinagar area in the last two months. Two gold chains costing Rs. 12,000 were recovered from him.
