KARUR, FEB. 3 . Silent processions, mass prayers and community feast in temples marked the death anniversary of the former Chief Minister, C.N. Annadurai, in Karur, Perambalur and Pudukottai districts today. DMK volunteers, led by the Karur district secretary, Vasugi Murugesan, took out a silent procession and garlanded the Annadurai statue at Vengamedu.
Perambalur
In Ariyalur, the AIADMK MLA, P. Ilavazhagan, led a procession of cadres and garlanded the statue. The DMK town secretary, Pon. Pakkiri, also paid floral tributes. At Perambalur, the AIADMK union secretary, Shahul, garlanded the statue. The Perambalur Collector, S. Natarajan, participated in a special prayer held at the Mathura Kaliamman Temple at Siruvachur. A community feast was also organised. The Collector promised that special funds would be allocated for clearing the garbage in and around the temple.
Pudukottai
At Pudukottai, the DMK workers, led by the district secretary, Periyannan Arasu, garlanded the Anna statue. The Marumalarchi DMK secretary, Chandrasekaran, the AIADMK town secretary, Chelliah, and the BJP president, Sundararajan, were among those who paid floral tributes. At Aranthangi, the DMK and AIADMK volunteers took out a procession and garlanded the statue. The Collector, Hiteshkumar Makwana, participated in a special prayer conducted at the Muthumariamman Temple at Tiruvappur.
