Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the issue of `warrants' against the President and the Chief Justice of India by a metropolitan magistrate in Ahmedabad. The Centre should consider the Supreme Court's direction in the All India Judges Association versus the Union of India [1992 1SCC119] for establishing an All India Judicial Service and to bring about uniformity in service conditions of members of the subordinate judiciary throughout the country.
Ajith Kolassery,
* * * Sir, To see doubts being cast on the judicial system is unfortunate. When a Supreme Court judge said on the eve of his retirement that 20 per cent of the judiciary is corrupt, it was taken lightly without any serious attempt to cure the malady. It is time the judiciary set up an in-house monitoring system.
ERM. Ramalingam,
Chennai
