Graphite case: private plea to be heard today
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
FEB. 3.
A private petition filed against the Government's decision to withdraw the second module of the Graphite case in which the Transport Minister, R. Balakrishna Pillai, is the first accused, would be taken up for consideration by the Vigilance Special Court here on February 4. The petitioner, Chandrasekhar, pointed out that in criminal law, one offence could not be equated with another even when the provisions of law and the violation alleged were the same. Just as the evidence collected in one case was no evidence for another, the acquittal in one case was no basis for acquittal in another. The petition said Mr. Pillai had given a petition for the withdrawal of the second module of the case against him after assuming charge as Minister.
