Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, FEB. 3. An endowment prize instituted by non-resident Indian doctors -- Asha Velisetty and Tripuraneni Ravi Kumar -- in the name of an authority in human anatomy, G.R.K. Hari Rao, has been presented to Konduru Vidya, a second year student of Guntur Medical College (GMC). Presenting a cheque for $200 at a ceremony here on Tuesday, Dr. Hari Rao, former professor of GMC Anatomy Department, recalled the words of Williams Wordsworth and said service to human beings was eternal and advised students to follow the principle once they took up practice. The respect Dr. Hari Rao, who in association with Dr. Ramachandra Rao had discovered an important artery in the human breast, commanded was evident from the fact that it was christened `Rao & Rao Artery,' the Guntur General Hospital Superintendent, Fayaz Ahmed, said on the occasion. The GMC Old Students Association, set up in 1981 in the United States, had donated Rs.4 crores worth of equipment to the college, said Dr. Asha daughter of Dr. Hari Rao. "It is our mission to see that the GMC emerge a premier medical college in the country,'' said Dr. Ravi Kumar.
