Centre urged to expedite despatch of doctors' bodies

By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, FEB. 3. The State Government has sent a request to the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom, to make arrangements for the early despatch of the mortal remains of the Indian doctor couple and their three-year-old son, who were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Suffolk on Sunday.

The bodies of the 41-year-old doctor, Jayaprakash Rao Chiti and his three-year-old son, Pranav, were fished out from river Orwell near Ipswich. The police who visited the residence of the doctor found his wife, Anupama Damera (36), stabbed to death. The couple's 11-year-old son, Ani, was found safe in the house. The Suffolk police suspect that Dr. Jayaprakash Rao Chiti, could have murdered his wife and then taken away his infant son and jumped into the river. The victims were both working at Ipswich hospital. While Dr. Jayaprakash Rao was a consultant, his wife was a consultant radiologist.

The General Administration Department in a communication to the Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, referred to news reports confirming the deaths of the three persons hailing from Nizamabad district headquarters, requested the officials to get in touch with the Indian Embassy and make suitable arrangements for the shifting of the mortal remains. The Government also directed the Resident Commissioner, AP Bhavan, to pursue the matter with the Union Government for issue of suitable instructions so that the bodies are brought back to Hyderabad at the earliest.

Meanwhile, information reaching the family of Dr.Jayaprakash Rao in Hyderabad said that Rakesh Rao, a software engineer and brother of Dr. Anupama Damera, had already reached Suffolk from USA. He reportedly telephoned and spoke to the family of the deceased doctor at Hyderabad. A close relative of Dr. Jayaprakash Rao, Sudhir, told The Hindu, on telephone from Hyderabad on Tuesday evening that the mortal remains of the three victims are expected to come only after a week.
