BANGALORE, FEB. 3. The Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, has expressed shock over the death of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha President, M.D. Nanjundaswamy, here on Tuesday. In his message, the Governor said Prof. Nanjundaswamy was a champion of the rights of agriculturists and a fighter for their causes. The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, M.V. Venkatappa, has condoled the death of of the founder of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), M.D. Nanjundaswamy. He said that besides being a champion of farmers, Prof. Nanjundaswamy was an able parliamentarian. The Chairman of the Legislative Council, B.L. Shankar, said that the State had lost a front-ranking advocate of public causes including those concerning farmers. The All India Progessive Janata Dal (AIPJD) National President and MP, S.R. Bommai, the Higher Education Minister, G. Parameshwar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit President, B.S. Yediyurappa, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former minister, P.G.R. Sindhia, the Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Motamma, the General Secretary of the KRRS (Puttannaiah Group), H.R. Basvarajappa, and the Convenor of the Karnataka Pragathi Ranga, Prof. Ramdas, have condoled the death of Prof. Nanjundaswamy. Funeral: The funeral of Prof. Nanjundaswamy will be held at his farm, Amruthabhoomi, near Chamarajanagar on Wednesday afternoon. Earlier in the day, his mortal remains will be taken in a procession from his residence in Bangalore to Chamarajanagar on Mysore Road.
