Laloo complains to President against Governor

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, FEB. 3. The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, Laloo Prasad Yadav, today met the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to protest against the "partisan role" of the Bihar Governor, Rama Jois.

He also reportedly demanded the Governor's immediate recall for his remarks against the Bihar Government in his Republic Day address.

Mr. Yadav charged the Governor with acting at the behest of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and "furthering the agenda" of the Sangh Parivar.

"The BJP is appointing RSS pracharaks as Governors," he said and accused the NDA Government of targeting Bihar ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. "The BJP and its allies will be wiped out this time."

The RJD chief alleged that Mr. Jois had failed in his constitutional duty and was trying to serve his political masters in Delhi. "This is a big violation of the Constitution." The matter also figured in the Rajya Sabha, with the Opposition parties demanding a statement from the Government.
