`Killing' of bull sparks clash

By Our Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL, FEB. 3. Two persons were injured when members of two communities clashed and a mob went on the rampage setting shops and houses on fire at Seu in Ganj Basoda tehsil of Vidisha district today protesting "the killing of a bull'' on Monday.

The mob targeted some houses belonging to the minority community after word spread that a bull had been found dead in a field outside the village. Some villagers from the neighbouring villages also joined the mob and the situation took a violent turn today.

A State Intelligence source told The Hindu that adequate police force had been sent and the situation was brought under control. Senior district authorities and police officials rushed to the village and are monitoring the situation and a curfew has been imposed.

Today's violent incident comes within the days of the total ban on cow slaughter.
