Four industries to be set up in Ramnad dt.

RAMANATHAPURAM, FEB.3. Four industries will be set up under the New Anna Renaissance Scheme at a total cost of Rs.1.76 crores in different parts of the district, the Collector, S. Vijaya Kumar, has said.

Presiding over a review meeting organised in connection with implementing the New Anna Renaissance Scheme here today, he directed the officials concerned to extend all kind of assistance to those who wanted to set up industries under the scheme.

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation agreed to provide loans to the tune of Rs.30 lakhs to an entrepreneur for the setting up of a shrimp farm at Mandapam in the current year.

The Collector also directed the TIIC to issue loans to the tune of Rs.37 lakhs for setting up a modern rice mill at Urappuli near Paramakudi and Rs.29 lakhs for a coir industry at Periapattinam near Thirupullani.

The district administration sent a Rs.47-lakh proposal to the Government for setting up a salt industry at Valinokkam.

The Collector appealed to unemployed youths to set up agriculture and its allied industries under the scheme. The project cost should be more than Rs.25 lakhs. The Government would give 15 per cent subsidy for purchase of equipment, 30 per cent subsidy for power in the first year, 20 and 10 per cent for power in the second and third years respectively and 15 per cent for purchase of generators, Mr. Vijaya Kumar said.
