Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, FEB. 3. The Pondicherry State All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam secretary and MLA, A. Anbalagan, today alleged that the implementation of welfare schemes had been affected following the recent resignation of two Ministers K. Lakshminarayanan and A. Elumalai from the Cabinet. Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Anbalagan called upon the Lieutenant Governor, N.N. Jha, to use his constitutional powers to dismiss the Rangasamy-led Congress Government. The Assembly should be dissolved and fresh elections held. The Chief Minister was yet to act on the letters of resignation submitted on January 28. This only showed that there were bickering within the Government. The outbreak of chickenpox in the coastal pockets of Uppalam was a proof of the failure of authorities to address people's health care services. The AIADMK leader said the two Ministers should lose no time to send the copies of their resignation letters to Mr. Jha so that alternative arrangements were made to ensure smooth functioning of the Government.
