PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB 3. The Catholicos of the East and the Malankara Metropolitan, Baselius Marthoma Mathews II, has called upon believers to closely follow the preachings of Jesus Christ to overcome the problems of modern times. The Malankara Metropolitan was delivering the benedictory speech at the annual Central Travancore Orthodox Christian convention at the St. Stephen's Orthodox Cathedral grounds in Makkamkunnu near here today. According to him, Jesus was the answer to the ailing chaotic world and His message of love and compassion to others should be propagated in all its spirit and fullness for world peace and universal brotherhood. The Metropolitan of the Niranam Diocese of the Church, Geevarghese Mar Osthatheos, delivered the keynote address. Philipose Mar Eusebius Metropolitan of the Thumpamon diocese presided over the meet. The member of the National Commission for Minorities, V.V.Augastine, the Malankara Orthodox Church secretary, Dr Alexander Karackal, and Fr. T.J.Joshua spoke. A public meeting was held at the cathedral premises later. Paulose Mar Pachomeos Metropolitan presided over the meeting. Philipose Mar Eusebius Metropolitan, Fr. Joseph Samuel and Fr. Thomas Varghese addressed the meet.
