9 killed as RTC bus rams into jeep

ANANTAPUR, FEB. 3. Nine persons, including three children and five women, were killed and eight others injured when an APSRTC bus rammed into a jeep coming in the opposite direction, near Yadiki in Anantapur district, this afternoon.

All the injured persons were admitted to the Government Hospital at Tadipatri. Later, they were sent to the Medical College Hospital here. According to the police and information reaching here, 17 members of three families from Gooty, including the driver, were on the way to Hajrat Hajivali Darga at Aluru Kona, near Tadipatri. The APSRTC bus belonging to the Gooty depot (bearing No. AP-10Z-1995), which rammed into the jeep, was on return journey to Gooty from Tadipatri. Six persons died on the spot. Allabakash (35), his wife, Rabia Begum (30), and their children-- Chand Basha (3) and Mohd. Ghouse (6 months)-- Hajeera Bee (28) and her son, Mohd. Ghouse (1), died on the spot. Rehana Bee (28) and Hussain Bee (35) died on the way to hospital. Sophiya(70) succumbed to her injuries at the Medical College Hospital.
