NCP unit in State splits
By Our Special Correspondent
KOCHI,
FEB. 3
. The split in the Kerala unit of the Nationalist Congress Party was formalised today with the pro-Sangma faction `expelling' the NCP State president, Cyriac John, and the entire State executive.
A State-level delegates' meeting of the Sangma faction, which was opened by the national general secretary, Jimmy George, elected M.M. Devasya as convener and C.M. Joy as deputy convener of the Sangma faction. A 22-member ad hoc committee was also formed. The meeting announced its support for P.A. Sangma and his decision to back the National Democratic Alliance in the Lok Sabha election.
Jimmy George told The Hindu that his faction would fight the parliamentary elections alongside the NDA in Kerala.
