Postal stir: talks fail
By Our Special Correspondent
KOZHIKODE FEB. 3. The talks to settle the ongoing postal strike in the northern districts of the State failed to resolve the issues.
Soon after the breakdown of talks, the joint action committee formed by NFPE, FNPO and BPEF, which is spearheading the strike, said that the agitation would be intensified and extended to other districts.
A spokesman for the Post Master General (PMG) said the talks held today broke down after the representatives of employees' unions stuck to their demand for cancellation of the speedpost collection agency opened in Kozhikode or for keeping it in abeyance. The PMG, after consulting his Directorate in Delhi and the Chief Post Master General in Thiruvananthapuram, rejected the demand.
