CHANDIGARH, FEB.3. The Haryana MLA, Karan Singh Dalal, who recently floated the Haryana Republican Party, today challenged the State Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, to hold simultaneous Assembly elections along with the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a press conference here today, Mr.Dalal said he would decide whether to join the Congress or any other party at an appropriate time after consulting the people of his constituency. When asked which party or group he would support in the forthcoming polls, his reply was that he would seek the advice of his electorate and decide accordingly. He disclosed that he had sought recognition for his new party from the Haryana Speaker and the Election Commission of India. Mr.Dalal commented that Mr.Chautala, who was continuously criticising State-level BJP leaders and publicly describing them as "immature'' children, had now adopted a stance of silence as in reality the "continuance of the alliance with the BJP'' would suit the electoral interests of both the parties in Haryana as they knew that they could not face the people on their own. However, he felt that the alliance would not "work'' as the divide between the State-level BJP leaders and Mr.Chautala had widened and it would be difficult to apply the balm at this juncture. The firebrand leader charged that the Chautala regime was doling out largesse including prime commercial land especially in Gurgaon to supporters of the powers that be. In a letter to the State Governor, he alleged that commercial land worth crores of rupees had been released to a general power of attorney holder in Gurgoan in gross violation of rules and regulations and the orders of the High Court.
