`Govt. taking up projects with an eye on elections'

By Our Staff Correspondent

BELLARY, FEB. 3. The Bellary district unit of the Janata Dal (S) has condemned the Government for going ahead with various development works only with an eye on the coming elections.

K. Bandeppa, Janata Dal (S) leader, in a press release has said that the State Government seems to have woken up from a deep sleep at the fag end of its term that too when elections were likely to be announced.

He said it was another attempt of the Government to hoodwink the people.

He criticised Allum Veerbhadrappa, Minister for Water Resources (Krishna Basin), who was now laying foundation stones for lift irrigation schemes though he had represented Kurgodu constituency for three terms.

Mr. Veerbhadrappa, who had been silent all these years, was suddenly responding to people's needs clearly indicating that it was being done with an eye on the elections, he said.

Mr. Bandeppa has demanded that the State Government release the entire amount earmarked for the projects and ensure their completion on schedule.
