Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, FEB. 3. The sky will be partly cloudy on Wednesday. The minimum temperature will be around 21 degree Celsius.

On Tuesday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1 degree Celsius and a minimum of 21.2 degree Celsius.

Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 21.0 degree Celsius. The humidity levels stood at 79 per cent and 68 per cent respectively.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in parts of Poonamallee and St. Thomas Mount between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on February 5 for maintenance work.

Awards given

Universal Human Rights Centre organised a meeting on labour issues on Republic Day. Employees working in government departments including transport, electricity board, postal department and police were given awards for meritorious service.

Oratorical competition

Students from city schools participated in English oratorical competitions conducted at P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore, on Sunday. Don Bosco Matriculation School, St. Dominic's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and P.S. Senior Secondary School won trophies.

Drawing contest

Oratorial and drawing competitions on road safety were held at A.L.M. Higher Secondary School, Injambakkam by the Lakshmi Hayagreeva Cultural Educational Trust Friday last, to promote awareness on the topic.

Rally for animal rights

L.M. Dadha Secondary School and Bhagwan Mahaveer Ahimsa Prachar Sangh conducted a rally for animal rights a couple of weeks ago.

The rally was followed by a meeting on promoting compassion towards living creatures.

New block opened

St. Britto's Academy inaugurated a new block, a computer centre and an indoor swimming pool at the school's annual day celebrations on Saturday.

NSS camp

Students of the Chromepet government boys higher secondary school participated in a ten-day NSS camp at Tiruneermalai between January 22 and 31 and took part in various activities, including desilting of tanks and AIDS awareness programmes.
