METTUPPALAYAM, FEB. 3 . The Forest Department personnel have arrested three persons, including the night watchman of the Forest College at Mettuppalayam, on charges of felling and attempting to smuggle sandalwood trees on Forest College and Research Centre premises on the Kotagiri Road. The accused, R. Rangarajan (30) - the watchman, Karuppasamy (30), and Muthusamy (30) of Oomapalayam were caught by the special teams on night patrol. The sandalwood trees recovered from them were estimated to be worth Rs. 20,000.
