Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the statement by the U.S. official, Robert Blake, that India should open its markets further and follow a more aggressive liberalisation policy to counter the American curbs on outsourcing of jobs. While protecting its market by means of anti-dumping laws, heavy import duty, huge subsidy to its agricultural produce and the like, the U.S. puts pressure on other countries to cut subsidies, lower import duties and not give any preferential treatment for national players. And the countries that take a tough stand and do not give in to the pressure tactics fall in the list of "confronters."
P.S. Premchand,
