Medicinal plants to be marketed

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, FEB. 4. The fourth meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Board here today, chaired by the Health Minister, K. Sivaprasada Rao, resolved to formulate strategies to develop marketing structure for linking farmers to industries through cooperative and "contractual farming".

The meeting decided to assess the demand for medicinal and aromatic raw material to form a basis for these strategies, and also the requirements of neutraceutical products by pharmaceutical industries and of herbal extracts in domestic and export markets. A nodal procurement agency monitoring production and price mechanism would have to be formed.
