KOZHIKODE, FEB.4. The Marad Judicial Inquiry Commission has sought an extension of six months to complete the inquiry and submit its report on the May 2 massacre at Marad. It is learnt that the Commission, Thomas P. Joseph, in a letter addressed to the Principal Home Secretary, N. Ramakrishnan, had conveyed that it would be difficult for him to complete the work within the stipulated six months since the office of the Commission started functioning in Kozhikode only from December 2, 2003. The six-month term of the Commission would come to an end on March 26, 2004 as per the orders issued by the State Government on September 27, 2003. So far the Commission had been able to collect evidences from various people including officials of the District Administration, senior officers of the Police Department and leaders of political parties and other organisations.
