BELLARY, FEB. 4. G. Umesh, president of the zilla panchayat, today flagged off the Pragati Yatra, a mobile exhibition for creating awareness among people in the rural areas about the achievements and programmes of the State government at Bhuvanahalli, the village adopted by the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna. As part of the programme organised by the Department of Information, in association with the district administration, the zilla panchayat, and the gram panchayats, screening of films, street plays, concerts, and exhibitions will be held in select villages of the district. Mr. Umesh said development works worth Rs. 1 crore was being taken up at Bhuvanahalli. Gadiganur Halappa, zilla panchayat member, presided over the function. Mareppa, President of Gadiganur Gram Panchayat, and Bheemalingamma, Vice-President of Hospet Taluk Panchayat, participated. Senior officials were present.
