Naxals kill TDP leader

GUNTUR,
FEB. 4.
People's War naxalites shot dead a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and severely injured another in Nimmalapadu village of Karampudi mandal in the early hours of Wednesday.
A 15-member team of the naxalites dragged the TDP leader, Paturi Mallayya, out of his relative's house and shot him dead from point-blank range. Another villager, M. Pullayya, was beaten up resulting in a fracture to his leg, Officer on Special Duty, G.V.G.Ashok Kumar, said. Pullayya was shifted to Narsaraopet for treatment and is reportedly out of danger. The naxalites, who could not find Mallayya initially in his house, set a tractor and a motorcycle on fire after ransacking a couple of houses while searching for him.
