VSP sales at new high
VISAKHAPATNAM: The turnover of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has touched a new high at Rs. 4,777 crores so far this fiscal. Giving an update on the company's performance for April-January 2003-04, the official spokesman on Wednesday said this marked a 24 per cent growth over Rs. 3,850 crores realised during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
Domestic sales of Rs. 4,181 crores and exports of Rs. 596 crores have reflected growth rates of 25 per cent and 20 per cent respectively. The VSP registered a turnover of Rs. 635 crores last month alone. The spokesman attributed this to `strategic marketing initiatives and quick decision-making.'
The plant produced 3.4 million tonnes of hot metal, 2.91 million tonnes of liquid steel and 2.62 million tonnes of salable steel during April-January attaining capacity utilisation of 120 per cent, 116 per cent and 118 per cent respectively.
