KOLKATA, FEB. 4. The Ranji Trophy one-day inter-zonal cricket championship begins here on Thursday with two matches on the cards. West Zone champion Mumbai will clash with Central Zone winner Rajasthan while North topper Delhi will take on East champion Bengal in the opening round games. The fifth team in fray is South winner Tamil Nadu which begins its campaign against Mumbai on Friday. Mumbai will certainly start as the favourite against Rajasthan at the Jadavpur University Campus in Salt Lake while Delhi meets Bengal at the Eden Gardens at the same time. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which has been allotted the championship, has requisitioned another lovely ground in Eastern Railway Sports Complex. All the ten games will be played in these three grounds with the University ground hosting five matches. The fixtures: Feb. 5: Mumbai vs Rajasthan, Delhi vs Bengal; Feb. 6: Tamil Nadu vs Mumbai, Bengal vs Rajasthan; Feb. 8: Delhi vs Mumbai, Tamil Nadu vs Rajasthan; Feb. 9: Mumbai vs Bengal, Tamil Nadu vs Delhi; Feb. 11: Delhi vs Rajasthan; Tamil Nadu vs Bengal.
