NEW DELHI, FEB. 4. The Union Cabinet today approved transfer of 46.52 acres of Defence land in Delhi Cantonment to the Delhi Development Authority for construction of an approach road to Dwarka Sub-City. The DDA, which has been given the land in exchange for an equal value of land, will utilise it for construction of the approach road to ease traffic congestion in Delhi Cantonment and also smoothen the traffic flow to Dwarka Sub-City. Also, the Defence authorities will stand to benefit from the construction of this road In lieu of the land in question, the DDA will give 70 acres of its land to the Defence authorities at Dwarka Phase I and will also deposit the replacement cost of structures and building of the Army required to the demolished. A note issued today also said that under the exchange DDA will also construct structures for Air Force - as per specifications provided by the IAF authorities -- in lieu of Air Force structures required to be demolished.
