Held for revenge killing

NEW DELHI, FEB. 4. Two persons have been arrested by the East Delhi police on charges of killing a 22-year-old man whose body was found at Kalyanpuri in East Delhi on Tuesday.

According to the police, the body, which was recovered from a bag at Ghazipur in East Delhi, was identified as that of Arvind, a resident of Shalimar Gaon in Shalimar Bagh, North-West Delhi. It came to light that he was missing from his house since December 24. Following investigations, the police arrested Shankar and Vijay, both residents of Kalyanpuri in East Delhi.

During investigations, it came to light that Arvind was involved in the murder of Shankar's father in April 2003. Arvind, whose wife had left him a year ago, was arrested and later released on bail. Shankar, cousin of Arvind's wife, had decided to take revenge and allegedly killed him, with the help of Vijay, after inviting him to their place in Ghazipur. The East Delhi police are further investigating the case.

Girl assaulted

A three-year-old girl was allegedly criminally assaulted by a minor boy in a village at Mayur Vihar in East Delhi today.

According to the police, the parents of the girl, a resident of Chilla village, do odd jobs to earn a living. In the morning, the mother of the girl had left for work. Usually, her father used to leave for work after she returned. However, today she did not return by 10-15 a.m. after which the father decided to go for work leaving the child alone in the house. He had bolted the door from outside. When the mother of the girl returned, she saw her daughter bleeding. She raised an alarm and the police were informed. The girl was provided with medical relief. Following investigations the police arrested a 16-year-old boy, who is the victim's neighbour.
