NEW DELHI, FEB. 4. Four persons, who had allegedly robbed a retired Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) official of his Wagon-R car at Dwarka in South-West Delhi on January 23 night, have been arrested and the vehicle recovered. The police said two of the accused were also wanted in a criminal assault case at Udyog Vihar in Gurgaon. On January 23 night, the police received a call from Mohan Mishra alleging that three men in a white Maruti 800 car had robbed his vehicle near SPG Complex Road at knifepoint. Mr. Mishra was on his way home at Vasant Kunj when the Maruti car, in which three persons were travelling, intercepted his vehicle. Two men alighted from that vehicle and at knifepoint forced their way into Mr. Mishra's vehicle. They drove towards Indira Gandhi International Airport, while their accomplice followed them in the Maruti car. Mr. Mishra was thrown out of the vehicle at an isolated place behind Centaur Hotel and fled away with his purse containing Rs. 6,000 and a mobile phone. Mr. Mishra then called up the police from the hotel's lobby. The police prepared computer-generated portraits of the culprits. Investigations under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajesh Deo, revealed that the suspects would pass by Sector 3 Dwarka in the robbed vehicle, but with a fake number plate. Subsequently, the police laid a trap and arrested four persons. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Narender, Naresh, Nihal Akhtar and Satish Mundepi. The accused confessed to having robbed the vehicle from Mr. Mishra using a Maruti car they had stolen from near Radisson Hotel. They sold the Maruti car at Jaipur to one Sunil Rana, a resident of Narnaul in Haryana, and were trying to sell the Wagon-R to Sunil as well. Naresh and Nihal disclosed that they were also involved in a gang rape case at Udyog Vihar, in which Naresh's brother had criminally assaulted the sister of an employee in his presence. The police said all the accused had previous criminal records. Further investigations into their other involvements are on.
