NEW DELHI, FEB. 4. Nine people, who were allegedly running a duplicate cooking gas regulator manufacturing unit at Mahipalpur in South-West Delhi, have been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch. Over 2,700 regulators bearing the brand names of reputed companies were recovered from the unit. Acting on a tip-off that duplicate regulators were being manufactured at a Mahipalpur unit, the EOW mounted a raid there and arrested nine persons, including the gang leader, Bhupender Singh. Others identified themselves as Deepak, Ranganath, Pappu Sharma, Sumit, Anil Sharma, Sanjeev, Ramanuj and Ranjan. The raiding team recovered 800 regulators bearing the brand of Indane, 236 small-sized regulators of Indane, 100 of Hindustan Petroleum, 599 of Bharat Petroleum, 200 of Sony, 250 of Apollo and 499 of other brands, besides raw materials used for manufacturing. Apart from this, two generator sets, two grinding machines, seven drilling machines, one cutting machine and three power press sets, 1,818 unfinished regulators and 5,800 caps were also seized from the unit.
