Hindujas welcome verdict

LONDON, FEB. 4. The Hinduja brothers today welcomed the judgment of the Delhi High Court quashing charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act against them and said they would pursue all remedies to ensure that the remaining charges of conspiracy and cheating were also dropped.

A spokesman for the brothers said that they always maintained that they had never been involved in any corruption or payment of bribes to public servants in India and they had nothing to do with the Bofors gun contract.

The lawyers for Hinduja brothers - S.P. Hinduja, G.P. Hinduja and Prakash Hinduja — were confident that the remaining charges referred by the Delhi High Court to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate could not be maintained legally, the spokesman said. Affirming great faith in the Indian judicial system, the Hindujas said in due course it would be proved that they had nothing to do with the gun deal.
