THE QUESTION of careers, opportunities, and career alternatives fill the minds of college students on the verge of passing out and those thinking of post-graduate studies. The CII Institute of Quality and Christ College will jointly organise a three-day programme from February 5 to 7 on "Career Alternatives 2004: Quality Education and Career Opportunities". The Minister for Tourism, J. Alexander, and the Minister for Industries, R.V. Deshpande, are scheduled to address the students on February 5 and 6 respectively. The exhibition being held alongside will see the participation of major corporates, including Infosys Technologies, Bharti Mobile, AOL, HP, Dell Computers, DSL Software, the Aditya Birla Group, and Timelease besides a number of city-based colleges who offer career-based courses.
THE INDIAN Academy, a college affiliated to Bangalore University and located in Kalyananagar is organising two symposiums. The Confluence @ Biospectrum related to applied life sciences will be on Thursday and Friday and Quest@Manvsion-04 dealing with management studies will be on Saturday. The two events will be at the Satish Dhwan Audtiorium on the IISc. campus. The first symposium is aimed at interaction among life sciences students in biotechnology, microbiology, applied genetics, and biochemistry from different colleges. The university Vice-Chancellor, M.S. Thimmappa, will inaugurate the event. The management event is for the benefit of undergraduate and postgraduate students of BBM, B.Com., MBA, and M.Com. Senior executives, considered role models, will address the students. They are expected to share their experiences in human resources management, sales and marketing, and financial management. Kjell Andersson, Chief of Engineering, Volvo India, will be a guest of honour.
YASHNA Trust, Bangalore, will screen applicants up to Februrary 6 at their office in 102, Park View, 40, Haines Road, Frazer Town (ph: 51251922). A three-year Bachelor's degree and a one-year of a Master's, a post graduate diploma from a recognised university, a professional lincensure from any of the accounting, finance or management societies will meet the 12 plus 4 requirement for admissions.
