SHIMLA, FEB. 5. The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today decided to set up the Department of Public Grievances for speedy redressal of complaints. The meeting was presided over by the Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh. The Cabinet also allowed departments such as PWD, Irrigation and Public Health and Forests too engage daily wage workers for 89 days so as to complete the ongoing projects speedily. The Cabinet further decided that all part-time workers in all departments, except Education, who have completed 10 years, would be made daily wage workers. The meeting decided to clear payments of fruits procured under Market Intervention Scheme up to March 31, last year by the Government- run Horticulture Produce and Marketing Corporation In another decision, it decided to give grant to Mahila Mandals and Yuvak Mandals for construction of buildings in the State in a phased manner.
