Uttar Pradesh
By Our Special Correspondent
LUCKNOW, FEB. 5. The Uttar Pradesh State Assembly remained adjourned for major part of the day today with members belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party repeatedly entering the well of the House shouting slogans. Except for the presentation of supplementary demands relating the current year, the House could not transact any business. The trouble started immediately after the House had assembled in the morning with the BJP members, led by Lakshmi Kant Bajpai and others, demanding restoration of the districts and divisions denotified by the State Government recently. While the Speaker urged the members to raise the issue after question hour they entered the well of the House making loud protests and waving placards. The House was then adjourned till the end of question hour. After the House reassembled, the Bahujan Samaj Party members also joined the protests demanding a debate on the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. Members of both the parties vied with each other to let their voice registered when the House was adjourned for the second time. The same was repeated every time the House reassembled and the Speaker in the evening allowed the presentation of the supplementary demands and adjourned the House for the day.
