Meghna Bal enters final

BANGALORE, FEB. 5. The Navision all-India Ladies Amateur golf championship final in the gold division is going to be a contest between a rookie and a veteran. Fifteen year-old Meghna Bal came up with another sterling performance to defeat her senior and more fancied Shalini Malik on the 18th hole and in the second semifinal Vandana Aggarwal used all her experience to get past another youngster Kanika Minocha.

Vandana Aggarwal was two up on the ninth and three up on the 15th to gain an easy berth into the final.

In the Silver division, top seed Sonavi Chopra breezed past Saaniya Sharma winning the match by five strokes and with four holes to go. Connie Syal, the other semifinalist had a tougher match winning on the 18th hole against Dimple Singh.

The bronze division final will be an interesting contest between number one ranked Preeti Mehta and KGA's second ranked Priya Khanna. Preeti beat Neelu Chopra on the 12th hole while Priya ousted Ritu Lumba on the 13th.

The results: (all semifinals): Gold Division: Vandana Aggarwal bt Kanika Minocha (3 & 2); Meghna Bal bt Shalini Malik (1up).

Silver division: Sonavi Chopra bt Saaniya Sharma (5 &4); Connie Syal bt Gitah Pandit (4 & 3).

Bronze division: Preeti Mehta bt Neelu Chopra (8 & 7); Priya Khanna bt Ritu Lumba (6 & 5).
