Tiruchi
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUCHI, FEB. 5 . The Tiruchi Railway Division has taken the lead among other divisions in the Southern Railway by constructing user-friendly lavatories for the physically disabled at the junction here. Disabled persons can make use of them on their own. Even the wheel-chair borne disabled can make use of them which have stainless steel railing on the walls, and support rods above the Western-style toilet. This amenity had been introduced in view of the difficulty faced by the disabled to use the toilet facility in the compartments. The amenity would be introduced at other junctions shortly. There is one toilet at the main platform and one each at the three `island platforms' - 2 & 3, 4 & 5 and 6 & 7. Each lavatory was constructed at a cost of Rs. 30,000, said C.K. Sivaraj, Public Relations Officer, Tiruchi Division.
