`Consider applicability of purchase manual'

KOCHI, FEB. 6 . The Kerala High Court today directed the Finance Secretary to consider the applicability of the Store Purchase Manual to the small-scale industry units engaged in the printing and publishing business. Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair also ordered that opportunities be given to all the tenders for printing of school textbooks, after considering the applicability of the manual to these SSI units.

Sentence upheld

Justice R. Basant upheld that the Thrissur Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge's verdict sentencing two former Cochin Devaswom Board Officers to two years rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating a part of the gold entrusted with them for making a Golaka at the Chottanikkara Temple. The judge also confirmed the lower court judgment acquitting two others in the case. The court ordered that second accused - K.R. Puruthosthaman, former Assistant Devaswom Commissioner, Thripunithura group of Devaswoms - to appear before the Special Judge on April 4 to serve the jail term.

Notice to SAT Hospital

Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair has issued notice to the State Government, Thiruvananthapuram SAT Hospital Superintendent and Director of Health Services on a petition seeking a detailed inquiry into the incident in which left finger of a 10-year-old was burnt out while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Sale of plot: AG granted time

A Bench comprising the Acting Chief Justice, N.K. Sodhi, and Justice K.K. Dinesan granted time till February 23 to the Advocate-General, M. Ratna Singh, to clarify whether the

GCDA was willing to re-advertise the sale of 59.285 cents of land in Marine Drive and invite fresh tenders.
